Good postnatal care exists in Kerala. Finding it was the hard part.
Prasavaraksha — the traditional forty-odd days of rest, oil massage and careful food after birth — is something most Kerala families still want. But the centres that offer it are small, independent and mostly found by word of mouth. Two centres in the same town could differ completely in what they include, who does the care and what the rooms look like, and a family had no way to see that side by side.
Most of what did exist online was either a paid advertisement or a hospital's marketing page. Neither told you whether the address was real, whether the phone number worked, or what "Prasavaraksha package" actually meant at that particular place.
Ammayum Kunjum started as a way to write down that information plainly, the same way for every centre, and to let families call the provider themselves. We do not take bookings and we do not sit between you and the centre. If the directory does its job, you should not need us again once you have made your call.
Five things every centre must clear before it is marked Verified.
Verification is done by our own team, not by the centre, and not by an automated form. A centre that fails any step is not listed until it passes.

The centre applies and submits documents
Owner identity, business registration, address, a working phone and WhatsApp number, and a plain list of rooms and services. No marketing copy is accepted.

We check the documents
Identity and registration are matched against what was submitted. Mismatched names, expired registrations or unreachable numbers stop the process here.

We visit or video-call the premises
A team member confirms the centre exists at the listed address, sees the rooms that were photographed, and speaks with the owner in person.

We write the listing ourselves
Rooms, meals, Prasavaraksha services and house rules are written in the same format as every other centre, from what we saw and what was submitted.

The owner confirms, and we re-check periodically
The owner reviews the listing for accuracy before it goes live. We re-confirm contact details and services on a schedule, and whenever a family reports a mismatch.
What Verified means — and what it doesn't.
Verified means we have
- Collected the centre's identity, location and direct contact details
- Requested current room, facility, service and pricing information for the listing
- Reviewed the submitted photos and service list for completeness before the badge is shown
- Confirmed a working phone and WhatsApp number for enquiries
Verified does not mean
- A medical licence or clinical accreditation of any kind
- That staff are qualified nurses, midwives or doctors
- A guarantee of safety, hygiene or outcomes
- An endorsement or recommendation by Ammayum Kunjum
Seen something on a listing that does not match what you found? Report the listing and we will re-check it. Centres that stop responding to our re-checks lose the badge.
How we write about care
Listings are written from what providers submit and what we observe, not from marketing copy. We do not accept payment for placement and we do not write reviews.
