General & getting started

What Ammayum Kunjum is, what it costs families (nothing), and how a search turns into a phone call.

What is Ammayum Kunjum?

Ammayum Kunjum (അമ്മയും കുഞ്ഞും) is a free directory and app for finding and comparing verified postnatal care centres in Kerala. Every listing shows rooms, meals, Prasavaraksha services and house rules in the same format, and families contact the centre directly by phone or WhatsApp. We are not a hospital or a care provider.

About Ammayum Kunjum
Is Ammayum Kunjum free for families?

Yes. Browsing the website and using the app are free for families, with no premium tier and no charge for contacting a centre. We charge 0% commission on any stay you arrange.

How does Ammayum Kunjum work?

Browse verified centres by district, compare their rooms, menus and services side by side, then call or WhatsApp the centre you like. You arrange the stay with the provider yourself; we do not sit in the middle.

Browse care centres
Do I need to create an account?

Not on the website: you can read every listing and call or WhatsApp a centre without signing in. The app asks you to sign in with your phone number and a one-time code sent over WhatsApp or SMS, with no password to remember, so it can save centres for you and let you leave a review after your stay.

Who runs Ammayum Kunjum?

A small independent team based in Malappuram, Kerala. We are not owned by any hospital, care centre or ayurveda chain, and the people who verify centres are the same people who answer your messages.

Who we are
Trust

Verification & trust

Exactly what the badge covers, how we check, and what happens when something is off.

What does the Verified badge mean?

Verified means our team has collected the centre's identity, business registration, location and direct contact details, reviewed the submitted room photos and service list for completeness, and confirmed a working phone and WhatsApp number before the badge is shown.

The badge, plainly
What does Verified not mean?

It is not a medical licence or clinical accreditation, it does not certify that staff are qualified nurses, midwives or doctors, and it is not a guarantee of safety, hygiene or outcomes. It is also not an endorsement by Ammayum Kunjum.

How are care centres checked?

A centre submits owner identity, business registration, address, contact numbers and a plain list of rooms and services. We check the documents, visit or video-call the premises, write the listing ourselves in our standard format, and have the owner confirm it before it goes live. Contact details and services are re-checked periodically.

The five-step process
Are listings paid or sponsored?

Listing is free for centres, and we do not accept payment for placement or ranking. Where a listing appears on a page has nothing to do with money.

What should I do if a listing seems wrong?

Use the Report a listing link or write to us on WhatsApp. We re-check the listing with the centre and correct it. Centres that stop responding to re-checks lose the Verified badge.

Booking & commission

We never handle your money or your booking. Here is how that works in practice.

Does Ammayum Kunjum charge any fee or commission?

No. We take 0% commission and add no booking or service fee. Whatever you agree with the care centre is between you and them.

Who do I book with?

Directly with the care centre. Ammayum Kunjum does not take payments; you confirm your room and dates with the provider by phone or WhatsApp.

How do I contact a care centre?

Every verified listing has a Call button and a WhatsApp button that connect you straight to the centre's confirmed number. There are no forms and no intermediary.

How much does a postnatal care stay cost?

We do not publish prices. The figure is agreed directly with the provider, and it varies by room type, length of stay and the services included, so call or WhatsApp the centre from its listing and ask for a written breakdown of what is and is not covered before you confirm.

Can I cancel or change a booking?

Cancellation and rescheduling terms are set by each centre, not by us. Ask the centre for its policy in writing, including any advance-payment terms, before you confirm dates. Due dates shift, so most centres are used to this question.

Using the app

The app carries the same listings as the website, in English and Malayalam.

Is there a Malayalam version of the app?

Yes. The whole app works in Malayalam or English, and you can switch between them at any time from settings.

Is the app available on iPhone and Android?

Yes. The app is on the App Store for iPhone and Google Play for Android, with the same listings and features on both.

Get the app
Do I need the app to browse centres?

No. Every verified centre is on the website with the same details. The app adds saved centres, Malayalam throughout, and one-tap WhatsApp contact.

Is the app free?

Yes. Downloading and using the app is free for families and there is no premium tier.

Kerala

Districts & coverage

Small numbers, shown honestly. Coverage grows one verified centre at a time.

Which districts of Kerala are covered?

Every centre listed on Ammayum Kunjum today is in Malappuram district, and each district page shows exactly which towns are covered and how many centres are listed. We add districts one at a time, only once a real centre there has completed verification, so a district page never promises listings that do not exist.

My district isn't listed yet. What can I do?

Message us on WhatsApp and we will tell you as soon as a verified centre is listed in your district. If you know a centre there, send us its name and we will invite the owner to apply.

Message us on WhatsApp
Can I use Ammayum Kunjum if I live outside Kerala?

Yes. Many families living elsewhere in India or abroad arrange a Kerala stay for a birth back home. Browse and contact centres as usual; confirm dates and travel timing with the centre and your doctor.

How can a care centre get listed?

Owners apply through Register your centre. Listing is free. The centre submits documents and a plain description of rooms and services, and our team verifies before publishing.

Care basics

Postnatal care & Prasavaraksha

General background only — your doctor's advice comes first. See the Prasavaraksha guide for more.

What is Prasavaraksha?

Prasavaraksha (പ്രസവരക്ഷ) is Kerala's traditional period of postnatal rest and care for the mother and newborn. It usually includes warm herbal oil massage (Abhyangam), herbal steam (Vedhu), specific foods, and help with newborn bathing and feeding, typically over several weeks after birth.

Read the Prasavaraksha guide
How long is a typical postnatal care stay?

Many Kerala families plan around 28 days, and some centres offer shorter or longer stays. The right length depends on the mother's recovery and the doctor's advice, especially after a C-section.

What is usually included in a postnatal care stay?

Commonly a private room, meals prepared for postnatal recovery, daily oil massage and herbal steam for the mother, newborn bathing, and help with feeding. Exactly what is included varies by centre, which is why every listing shows the same checklist.

Is Prasavaraksha safe after a C-section?

Timing and intensity should follow your obstetrician's advice; massage near the incision is usually delayed until it has healed. Tell the centre about your delivery type before arrival so they can adjust the routine.

About postpartum recovery
Does Ammayum Kunjum give medical advice?

No. We are a directory, not a medical service. Nothing on the site replaces your obstetrician, paediatrician or midwife. For heavy bleeding, fever, chest pain, breathing trouble, or a baby who is unusually sleepy or won't feed, call 108 or go to the nearest hospital.

Questions about a specific centre — availability, food, visiting hours — are best answered by the centre itself. Every listing has its number.
